Book Tales

Spain – Carlos Ruiz Zafón – The Shadow of the Wind

A 10 year old boy is taken to a ‘cemetery of forgotten books’ by his father. From there, entranced by the novel and its characters, the boy guards it as his prized possession even when offered a fortune for the same. Daniel, the boy, starts getting into the book, when he realizes that there is more to the book than it being rare and hidden in a cemetery of forgotten books. He realizes that it is a book that is being hunted and burnt. This intrigues him and the curiosity slowly develops into a irretrievable journey into the footsteps of the author of the book – Julian Carax. Borrowing the words of Carlos Ruiz Zafon – “Every book, every volume you see here has a soul. The soul of a person who wrote it and those who read it and lived and dreamed with it. Every time a book changes hands, every time someone runs his eyes down its pages, its spirit grows and strengthens.” This one has an amazing plot decorated with characters who will wake up alive while you drown into that beautifully crafted world of words. “It is a story of love, of hatred, and of the dreams that live in the shadow of the wind”
And I can write down all those beautiful quotes in there..but then il have to copy the entire book here! If you like to read, if you like to voice out the poetry in words and like a thrilling plot, you must not miss this one.
