Book Tales

Russia – Fyodor Dostoyevsky – Crime and Punishment

Written in 1866 by a Russian author – referring to the names, day, and places in Russia. I’m surprised as to how the book can move you – even today. That probably is the reason it is considered a gem. Fyodor reminded me of Thomas Hardy – where every minute detail is vividly painted for you. Someone asked me if it is a hard read…not really – the book actually makes you forget you are takes you to another era, another world. Crime and Punishment – is the psychology of a poverty-stricken, genius committing a crime to come up with a theory of being at par with great men like Napoleon and then dealing with his own conscience.
